Washing Sippy Cups

Washing sippy cups – One of my least favorite chores to do around the house is dishes.  It is never ending, and there are always more to wash.  The other day I was washing dishes, and, as I put what I felt like was the hundredth sippy cup of the day in the dishwasher,  I caught myself grumbling about this seemingly unending job.  Then I realized I was complaining about taking care of the blessings God has given me.  Why should I complain about the jobs that come along with having a large family and lots of kids?  Little kids need sippy cups, it’s just a fact.  So as long as there are little kids in our house, there are going to be sippy cups.  I now pray there is never a day that I don’t have to wash sippy cups.  When my children are grown, I hope to have grandchildren’s cups to wash.

3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children of one’s youth.
5 Blessed is the man
who fills his quiver with them!

Psalm 127:3-5

I still don’t enjoy washing sippy cups, or any other dishes for that matter, but I love the reason I have the sippy cups.  I love having lots of kids, and pray that God will continue to bless us with more.
